it's a murder case 13 years old and still, the body isn't found and now,the detectives are digging in a familiar face. thank you for wa waing. the police are hopeing to recover the remains in a wood wood area and we're on the scene today. we have the latest on the developing story.

>> reporter: i'm in the indian head region, it's south of the beltway. this is old fort road and there have been other digs for the girl's remains. right now, a small crew actually, from the d.c. housing department aided by a few police detectives is working on this part of old fort road, off of the road. they now believe that her remains are here. shis is a murder case that's olved because her former boyfriend confessed in court to killing her. he was cooperating with the police, he was involved in at least one other murder and possibly more. he took her out in his backyard, he said in d.c. and he put her body in this area. when he was cooperating with the police, it was 13 years after the murder and another man that helped dump the body

in a blanket and put it under ground told the police three years later that it happened in this area. this is where the investigation is going. they have to dig deeply, they said they buried her 4 feet underground. the murderer is already convicted. he's serving about 38 years counting all of the charges against him. but the parents of the victim want the case closed and the police chief has taken a personal interest in the case and the housing department is volunteering worker and small pieces of equipment and think're continuing to look for her. one police officer said they're sure she's here somewhere and they won't give up until they find her remains. all right, thank you, for

recovered all of the victims from the accident on the hudson. the last few bodies were found yesterday. it took two hours to pull the plane from the hudson. with both the chopper and the piper on dryland, the investigators are can focus on what caused the two aircrafts to collide. >> we're working to review the shots of the breakup sequence. think're helpful to the investigators. >> reporter: witnesses say that the plane approached the helicopter from behind and photos validate the accounts piper never made contact with the air traffic controllers despite an attempt to do so. there could have been an electrical issue. >> they'll be looking at the management of the space and the communications that go on. we're here, we don't want to see this happen again.
